ASCO Norge AS

Customer Case – Maritech TMS, Analytics, Timpex CMS

“From the moment we were first introduced to Maritech TMS, we knew this was a development project we wanted to be part of.”

That’s how Frode Brurås, SME & Senior Freight Forwarder and Project Manager for the TMS project at ASCO Norge AS, sums up their first impression. During Maritech’s Customer Days in Ålesund in 2023, an early version of the cloud-based TMS was presented to customers — and ASCO quickly saw the potential.

“We have many years of experience working in Timpex and have always been very satisfied with the system,” says Brurås. “But the need to invest in functionality and technology that could take us into the future became increasingly clear.

With a cloud-based solution, it’s much easier to upgrade regularly, and essential aspects like security and risk management are significantly improved compared to on-prem systems. It’s also much better suited for integrations through APIs. We immediately saw a great match between our needs and Maritech TMS, and wanted to collaborate with Maritech to further develop the solution. For us, this was truly an investment for the future.”

A pioneering project that strengthened both ASCO and Maritech

The project kicked off in autumn 2023 with an extensive mapping of needs and desired functionality. ASCO’s logistics services cover offshore, oil and gas operations, as well as traditional freight forwarding — by air, sea, and land — for both domestic and international transport. This complexity has been a key factor throughout the project, with customs clearance and forwarding also playing an important role.

Hanna Verås, Project Manager at Maritech, explains:

“ASCO is a large and experienced logistics player using a wide range of functionality across their value chain. They joined the TMS project quite early and helped set the direction for further development. Together, we’ve delivered new features and improvements that benefit both ASCO and our other customers.

The project has involved skilled professionals who truly know their field. Even when ASCO has challenged us along the way, it’s been a pleasure to collaborate with such knowledgeable and technically strong people.”

Brurås agrees:

“It has been a very good collaboration from start to finish — from the initial phase until we went live in March 2025. The Maritech team has been knowledgeable, dedicated, and always available. We held regular status meetings to ensure progress, and any issues were resolved quickly. When needed, developers joined the discussions directly, which made the process efficient and constructive. The whole project was characterized by close collaboration and a strong, solution-oriented spirit — something both teams have learned a lot from.”

A future-ready solution — and a strong partnership

Half a year after go-live, ASCO is very satisfied with their new logistics solution — consisting of Maritech TMS, a customs clearance module, air freight, warehouse management, analytics, and integrations with accounting, third-party systems, and customers. New functionality has been continuously added since launch, and internal feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Maritech TMS is not just a new version of Timpex — it’s a completely new system built from the ground up in the cloud,” Brurås emphasizes. “It’s exciting to have contributed to shaping the solution. The system is intuitive and accessible anywhere — which is a big advantage. I especially appreciate the pricing functionality, the planning tools, and the Confirm app, which provides our drivers with the information they need.”

And when asked if ASCO would do it again?

“Without a doubt! I would absolutely recommend Maritech to other logistics companies looking for a future-oriented management system.”
