Maritech Supply Chain

The seafood logistics of the future

Finally!

You can now digitize your seafood logistics.

Seafood logistics can be an extreme sport which places sky-high demands for precision, competence, and flexibility, and has a number of x-factors that must be considered.

Since 2017, Maritech (incl. logistics software specialists Timpex, now part of Maritech) has been working to digitize Norwegian seafood exports logistics in an innovation project, together with Cermaq, Coast, and DB Schenker. In the autumn of 2020, we launched Maritech Supply Chain, the only solution in the world tailored for the complex processes in seafood logistics.

Reduced cost and risk

In Maritech Supply Chain, an exporter can connect with the carrier to collaborate and exchange data and documents, improving planning, management, and secure collaboration across the supply chain. All parties get better data quality, reduced vulnerability, and work processes are simplified. At the same time, better cost control and transport utilization provide gains related to both profitability and sustainability.

For example, for those who are an exporter, the solution provides easier handling of invoices, customs documents, and prices. The system supports the receipt of calculated prices and the administration of short deadlines and last-minute changes. Document exchange takes place in real time between exporter, carrier, and customs processor. Less manual data entry reduces consequential errors, and all changes are visible and traceable, ensuring the right data and easy documentation.

  • “We believe in being reliable, dynamic and innovative. We export 90 000 tonnes of seafood per year to 65 markets. In order to assure even more efficient and streamlined processes in the future, digitalization is crucial.

Easier handling of changes

Fewer manual processes and better interaction provide important benefits for carriers. Documents related to the shipment are made available to the carrier as soon as they are created, reducing latency throughout the value chain. With Track & Trace, faster updates are provided in case of delays.

Maritech Supply Chain also provides a boost for the terminals, which get greater predictability, better visibility of inbound and outbound goods and shipments, and more efficient handling of re-marking and coordination of shipments. The new tools also make it possible to handle sudden changes more effectively compared to manual processes.

Seafood logistics of the future

Seafood logistics are still not for wimps.

But there are many who can now perform critical tasks with a lower heart rate, less person dependence, and a reduced risk of manual errors. At the same time, profitability is increased throughout the value chain, processes are optimized, all while contributing to increased sustainability.

This is the seafood logistics of the future.
